Granada towards a smart, secure and efficient mobility
The City Council launches the new maintenance contract for traffic lights, access control and management of mobility in the city of Granada
Awarded to Aeronaval de Construcciones e Instalaciones, S.A. (ACISA) for three years and with an investment of 2.044.342,30 euro a year, this contract incorporates new analitical devices and traffic simulations, sensor systems and Smart cameras.
One of new features in this contract is the incorporation of simulation tools and traffic modelling that will improve analitical capability and anticipation before any modifications in traffic regulations and rearrangement.
This new contract implies a qualitative leap in mobility in Granada, since it not only guarantee manintenance of crucial infrastructure like traffic light network is, but adds new smart tolos that allow to know how traffic works and take more accurately decisions, says Mobility, Citizen Protection, Urban Agenda, Substainability and Next Generation councellor, Ana Agudo.
The City Council of Granada has launched the new maintenance contract for traffic lights, access control and management of mobility in the city; a service that reinforces the maintenance of crucial infrastructures in urban mobility.
This contract, awarded to Aeronaval de Construcciones e Instalaciones, S.A. (ACISA) for three years and with an investment of 2.044.342,30 euro a year (IVA included), which includes both conservation of current systems and the incorporation of new technological tools to improve management of traffic and towards a model of efficient, secure and data based mobility.
The new contract, as the Mobility, Citizen Protection, Urban Agenda, Substainability and Next Generation councellor, Ana Agudo, saidimplies a qualitative leap in mobility in Granada,since it not only guarantee manintenance of crucial infrastructure like traffic light network is, but adds new smart tolos that allow to know how traffic works and take more accurately decisions.
If we want Granada to have a faster, safer, and smarter, we need to keep our systems at their best, and, at the same time, take advantage of the opportunities that technolo gave us to get ahead of problems, optimise traffic circulation and improve displacements in the city, has remareked.
Maintenance of traffic lights network
One of main services of the new contract is preventive and corrective maintenance of traffic lights devices and associated features. This means the maintenance of regulators, sensors, cabling, channeling, and traffic lights, and also to solve failures or incidences that may happend because of traffic accidents, breaks or any other damages in the streets.
The contract also includes the conservation of access control systems and Low Emission Zone (LEZ), CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) and communication networks, and the execution of changes, new installations and improvement actions within the lifetime of the service.
In this respect, the councellor has remarked that preventive maintenance is crucial to guarantee security and continuity of service: We talk about systems that involves directly thousand of people and must work properly with the outmost reliability.
The Integral Management Mobility Center, the key for decision-making
This new contract also strenghts the role of the Integral Management Mobility Center (IMMC) as the center-point for surveillance and management of regulatory traffic systems in Granada. So, from these facilities will be developed the management of traffic control, access control points systems and reserved lanes and control of Low Emission Zone areas.
The service involves, in addition, traffic engineering works, planning and rearrangement studies, circulation analysis, upgrade of traffic standards and optimization in the programming of crossings with traffic lights.
Among other novelties, the councillor has highlighted the incorporation of simulation tools and traffic modelling,which will allow improve analysis capability and foresigh of any modifications in ordenation and regulation of circulation system. To this, must be added the implementation of a unified data platform and data tabls for the operation and management of information coming from different mobility systems.
The availability of these data will enable us to refine much more decisions. Mobility in a city like Granada is dynamic and requires bespoke solutions to each problem. Using these tools we can analyse circulation flows, find behaviours and better assesments of steps taken, Agudo explained, and has remarked that we have set as a target all these information to help improve gradually circulation, road safety and road network functioning, give a efectively answer to any situationt or incidence that may happend.
More sensor analysis to know up-to-the-minute traffic
New contract includes new sensor control systems that Will enlarge municipal capability to monitorize and and analyze circulation. In detail, there will be on service 12 automatic number plate recognition equipments, 18 LPR cameras for perimeter control and 24 road sensorized cameras with intelligent video analysis.
These devices will give up-to-the-minute information about circulation and vehicle detection, traffic jams and traffic flows, providing new data to optimize management in crossroads and traffic lights regulation.
We are integrating new technology to make mobility management more accurate. It is not only to install new equipment, but the information given will be usefu to improve circulation and road safety, the edil said, who also remarked that, this progress of Granada for a more actual and connected mobility, infrastructure maintenance, technological innovation and planification must go hand in hand.
